I’ll admit, before starting this chapter today, I played around a little with the end of the last chapter, it didn’t take long, I just wanted to make sure it read realistic enough. That there were enough crowd jeering and the like.

Chapter 122 is currently only 10 pages, 2747 words long. However, it looks like I might actually be able to get it finished within two days. yay!

I’ll admit, I think the length of the chapter is important to how many days it takes. I think I average 5-7 pages a day (including check through) Thus if a chapter is much larger that 12 or so pages there’s a good chance it’ll take me three days.

Normally when I go to the movies I have a few predetermined ideas of what the movies is going to be like from the synopsis. This was no exception, this was going to be a one man against the world shoot em up in the classic style that has been done so many times before. The sort of movie that you really don’t need to take your brain to go and see.

I did though expect it to be entertaining, I wouldn’t bother with it if I didn’t expect it to be entertaining.

So what did we get?

While it was a one man against the world shoot-em-up, it was intelligently put together and there was a purpose to all the violence. It didn’t come down to the hero facing off against the man who killed his family or even slaughtering everyone who stands against him. Even the ending, as the hero is preparing for the classic fight, the way it was resolved while not unpredictable, did take me be surprise.

What I didn’t like about the movie.

My main quibble with the movie was the shakey cam. To me, shakey cam just advertises the fact that it was a poorly choreographed fight scene. I mean, how many people can seriously say I want to go and see any movie again because of the shakey cam?

What did I like? Well We’ll start with the chinese. I love to hear chinese spoken in a movie and there was a lot of it. While this is a subjectinve point of view, I feel it’s valid never the less. Dian ying shi hen hao!

The little girl was played well and I loved the fact that she was more intelligent than most of the adults around her.

I like Statham, although he’s made a lot of real dogs in the past. It’s always good to see him in a relatively wholesome movie. Indeed, I not sure this movie warrants the R rating. A little bit of intelligent editing for language and it could easily be a PG13. The main reason it got a R was for violence, but the violence really wasn’t all that bad. It certainly wasn’t the cartoony Tarantino style buckets of blood everywhere type of violence that some movies like to portray.

So, while it’s defintiely not the best movie I’ve ever seen, I do feel that it’s worth four stars, if nothing else it’s one of the finest examples of an action packed shoot-em-up I’ve seen in a long time

It’s strange, when I decided back at the beginning of april that I was going to just post singers for the month. Gerry Rafferty wasn’t one of the names that sprang to mind. His one lone album sits unobtrusively on my cd shelves and though it does get plaed occasionally, it’s rarely the first thing I think of when selecting music to play. It’s not that I don’t like his stuff, quite the contrary. However, my wife having exactly the same album means I hear it plenty without having to play it myself.

Anyway, Gerry is the last of the singers I’m posting for now, I’ll be back on the groups next week with whoever I choose. (I haven’t decided yet)
