The third day on this chapter brings me t the end of the first draft.

The chapter is 17 pages 4996 long. It’s a long chapter and when I’ve finished checking it through, (It’s already partly checked, but the last seven pages still need to be checked) I expect it to be longer still.

Category: Novels

10 pages 2918 words.

The chapter still isn’t finished though, It might take me both the next two days to finish the chapter off, so I guess there’ll only be one chapter written all this week. still, I expect it to be a fairly long chapter by the time I’m done.

I’ve made a start on the chapter.

so far it’s only 6 pages, 1754 words, but it really is only a start. I’m probably no more than half way through what I want to cover in this chapter. Hopefully I’ll get to finish that off tomorrow.

No work on the book today

Real life comittments got in the way, getting my wife’s cars back on the road, getting my own car properly cleanied. We started early in the morning and it was nearly six in the evening by the time we were finished.

As a result there was no work today and will be no work tomorrow. We shall see about Monday.

This will probably contain spoilers.

Imagine three high school students suddenly endowed with superpowers. Imagine how irritating it will be when they abused their powers. Then you have a good idea of what most of this movie is like.

Add into the mix that one of the kids isn’t very popular, he had no friends at school, unless you count his cousin. Not too surprising when you consider how creepy the kid seems to be. I mean, he takes up a camera fetish and starts to film everything. Obviously this makes it easier for him to document the events as they unfold, but it was still very convenient timing. Did I mention that this unpopular kid had an abusive drunken father and a mother on the edge of death? This is typical superhero fare.

It’s not a superhero movie though, not really. No, the moral of this story is firmly in the power corrupts camp!

This unpopular kid, becomes the most powerful of the three and begins to abuse his powers big time, killing one of the other two (by accident) and then going out of a crime spree trying to raise money for the drugs his mother needs.

What don’t I like about it? Well, other than the lameness of the story, there is a moment where the ‘hero’ is in hospital being visited by his father. His father has a go at him and so ‘the hero’ reacts, blasting a hole in the wall which he flies out of carrying his father so he could drop him to his doom.

However, these events unfold so slowly that the news networks have time to get to the scene and report it so that ‘the heroes’ cousin hears about it, has time to get in a car, drive through all the police cordons and whatever and arrive in time to catch ‘the heroe’s’ father as he’s dropped.

You know, the reason I finally decided to see this movie was because Rotten Tomatoes gave it an 84% approval rating. I thought that meant it was worth a look. Always be careful of what critics say, if you listen to them too closely you might end up going to a dog of a movie like this one.

My verdict? Definitely Chronic
